County fills codes position

NORWICH - Chenango County filled its open code enforcement officer position late last month with the hiring of Richard Platt. The position had been vacant since late summer.
Platt was a codes and building inspector for Chenango County from 1998 to 2001. He was previously the enforcement officer for the Town of Lansing.
Platt is a past president and current member of the Southern Tier Builders Association. Chenango County Public Health Department Director Marcas Flindt said the new hire is “an expert on codes and highly respected by fellow codes officers and contractors.”
He managed the Town of Norwich’s Wal-Mart Superstore project two years ago, filling in for former codes officer Bruce Bates who was on medical leave.
