MADISON – A fast start propelled Sherburne-Earlville to an opening-game win at Madison Monday night.
Sophomore Caitlynn Adams hit a trio of three-pointers in the first quarter scoring 11 of her 16 points to go with eight rebounds and four steals. Fellow sophomore Bridget Irwin was steady throughout matching Adams’ 16 points.
“Our press affected them early in the game, and we did a good job pushing the ball and scoring in transition,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan.

SIDNEY – Bainbridge-Guilford, defending MAC Division II champions, hit 10-of-14 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Sidney in Monday’s non-league game.
Kimberly Brown went 4-for-4 from the stripe to finish with eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Dani Conway, Chelsea Rosa, and Shania Vandermark also connected on a pair of free throws. “I went to Sidney tonight expecting them to manhandle us a little bit with their athleticism,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “We had some turnovers early, but we settled down and did a nice job controlling the boards.”
Conway led B-G with 18 points to go with seven assists and nine rebounds. Vandermark also snagged eight rebounds.
B-G plays at Unadilla Valley Friday.
