Local author signs “Souvenirs” book tonight

NORWICH – With six shopping days left until Christmas, First Edition bookstore is giving shoppers a reason to consider shopping locally this weekend. The downtown Norwich bookstore will hold two events this weekend, to encourage people to come into the store and pick up their last-minute Christmas gifts.

Tonight, local author Donald Windsor will hold a book signing. Windsor, who recently released his book “Souvenirs of Yesteryear, Volume 1” will be signing copies of his book from 5 to 7 p.m.

“Souvenirs of Yesteryear” is a compilation of articles Windsor has published in The Evening Sun over the years. The articles center around the history of Chenango County. Volume 1 covers articles published from 2001 to 2003.

To date, Windsor has published 208 of his historical articles in The Evening Sun. He plans to release a total of five volumes of local history. The first volume contains 44 stories about different areas of the county.

“‘Souvenirs of Yesteryear’ was a local history column in The Evening Sun that I wrote to encourage an appreciation of historical remains. I was, and still am, appalled by the reckless destruction of anything old,” Windsor explains in the book’s preface.
