Unemployment rates increase

NORWICH – The Chenango County Office of Employment and Training reported a 6.7 percent unemployment rate in November. The figure was 6.0 in October, and compares to a 4.6 percent unemployment rate in November 2007.
Chenango County’s rate is now higher than the nation’s, at 6.5 percent, and New York’s overall unemployment rate of 5.9 percent.
Most of the jobs were lost in the professional and business services sector, according to the monthly report.
