BAINBRIDGE – B-G received the balanced scoring that was absent in a loss to Oneonta on Saturday, and it went on to defeat Marathon in the Kazalski Tournament consolation game Monday.
Dani Conway led with 18 points, Randi Conway scored all 11 of her markers in the first half, and Kimberly Brown added eight of her 12 points in the second half. Shania Vandermark came off the bench for six points and seven rebounds. “We had a lot more balance and a lot of kids chipped in,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “I thought it would be a real battle, but we got out to a nice lead in the third quarter and put the game away a little bit.”

UV Holiday Tournament

Harpursville 63, Sherburne-Earlville 40
NEW BERLIN – Harpursville’s high-scoring Kimmels – Hannah and Alycia – combined for 47 points in a UV Holiday Tournament first-round win Monday.
Hannah Kimmel finished with a game-high 27 points and Alycia Kimmel added 20. Each player scored 13 points in the second half. “We knew it would be a tough matchup, and Hannah Kimmel is a great player,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “We had no answer for her on defense.”
Megan Record scored 13 points for S-E, who face Unadilla Valley today at 2:45 p.m. in the consolation game.
South Kortright 49, Unadilla Valley 46
The Storm’s furious fourth-quarter rally fell short against South Kortright in the second game of the opening round.
The Rams stretched a four-point lead at the end of the third quarter to as many as 12. UV’s Melissa Friedel canned a three ball in the final two minutes, and Hannah Johnson added two free throws as the gap closed to one basket. “We did everything right at the end of the game, but the whole game should not come down to one minute,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “South Kortright has three big girls and everything runs through the post. They moved the ball well and finished their layups.”
Johnson led UV (2-4) with 13 points and Friedel added 12.
