BOCES offers porfessional development courses
CHENANGO COUNTY – Twice per year, the Instructional Support Services (ISS) Department of DCMO BOCES publishes a catalog of professional learning opportunities. The Winter/Spring 2009 catalog has been printed and distributed to our 16 component school districts. Offerings begin Jan. 7 and continue through June 16, and represent a variety of topics including instructional strategies, English language arts, mathematics, technology and special education.
While the majority of offerings are presented by employees of DCMO BOCES, we are pleased to have our area teachers facilitating additional learning opportunities. Specifically, Assessment Informs Instruction: Enhancing Kindergarten ELA via Professional Sharing is being facilitated by three teachers; Pat Hubman and Colleen Fagnani from Oxford Academy and Central School and Josh Conover from Bainbridge-Guilford Central School. These teachers are providing an opportunity for kindergarten teachers to continue, or join, the conversation that began on Oct. 10 at the Regional Superintendents’ Conference Day hosted by Oxford Academy and Central School. On Oct. 10, several hundred teachers from thirteen different schools and BOCES participated in sessions that were facilitated and/or presented by teachers from our component districts.
