‘Zany Trio’ appears at 6 on the Square Saturday
OXFORD – Getting a little “cabin fever”? Shake it off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., by joining the very talented “Zany Trio,” the 6 On The Square (6OTS) Open Mic emcees, and their friends. Following ZT will be Mardi, Hub and the Sprockets from Philadelphia! This musical evening will be a little bit folk, a lot of rock, and some blues thrown in for good measure; it’s sure to put a smile on your face!
Gary Parker, Keith Carpenter and Ron Britton are the three zany guys who host 6OTS Open Mic nights, hence the name, “Zany Trio”. These exuberant musicians play an eclectic mix of folk music with a rock beat and add some jazzy blues to kick it up a notch! They have a lot of fun just being up on the stage, and their enthusiasm is catching!
As a treat, Mardi, Hub and the Sprockets will really warm you up. The “Sprockets” are Mardi Malley – Vocals; Jamie Malley - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals; Teri Rambo – Vocals; Steve Wheelock - Lead Guitar; Rebecca Nadolny – Bass; and Mark Alexander – Drums. This Philly based group is known for their range of musical influences, from the Beatles to the Grateful Dead and much more! There's always a driving beat and a strong bass rhythm as a backdrop to vocals and harmonies that are sometimes sultry and soulful and sometimes rock and roll. And listen closely to their lyrics - the insightfulness might surprise you.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $8, until the day of the show; $10 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 PM and all ages are welcome. The refreshment counter will be open offering specially roasted 6OTS hot coffees, teas and other delicious refreshments.
Don't miss future performances by: Melissa Clark, Ned Brower, and Jessica Sheldon on Jan. 31; and Tom Rasely and Scott B. Adams on Feb. 7. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Also watch for details on the 2nd annual Wine Tasting Fund Raiser with the Black Bear Winery on March 28. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
Have a talent? Singers, poetry readers, musicians...the next “Open Mic Night” is January 15 (and every third Thursday of each month), at 7:30 p.m. Come to perform or come to listen; it’s always free admission.
