GREENE – Greene ran its MAC unbeaten streak to 41 meets, and set two new school records in Thursday’s win over Sherburne-Earlville.
Patrick Kelsey, swimming the 500-yard freestyle for the first time this season, completed the distance event in 5:43.52, a seven-second drop over the previous record.
George Flanagan shattered the 100-yard breaststroke mark as well. He went more than two seconds below his personal-best time, and the 1:06.20 was over 1 1/2 seconds better than the previous standard of 1:07.93. “Before the meet, Patrick and George said their goals were to set records tonight,” Platta said. “It’s a pleasant surprise for them to get the records this late in the season. We’ve been putting in nearly 4,000 yards at each 90-minute practice.”
Greene competes at the Vestal Invitational on Saturday.

Afton/B-G/H/S 89, Cooperstown 79
AFTON – Afton reversed a seven-point loss to Cooperstown from Tuesday picking up much-needed depth points in the final five events to defeat Cooperstown.
The Makos did not win the 500 freestyle or 100 breaststroke, but took second, third, and fourth in each event. Additionally, first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay sealed the win.
Kurt Rogler and Steve Howe had multiple wins on the night for A/B-G/H/S. “We had a ton of personal-best times tonight,” said Makos coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “They are doing tons of yardage, and I told them they had to believe in themselves. And they did.”

Norwich 84, Oneonta 75
ONEONTA – Norwich won its second meet of the season, and for the first time, held the advantage in depth points.
“We definitely had more quality and quantity tonight,” said Norwich coach Jon Aikins.
The Tornado won the first nine events, and swam the final three as exhibition in posting the comfortable win. Senior Dan Wenzel set a personal-best in taking the 200 individual medley. Wenzel finished in 2:07.67, one of his three total wins on the day. Trey Ostrom, Mike Reilly, and Talon Schroeder added individual wins for Norwich, who face Greene Tuesday.

Boys’ Bowling

Norwich 7, Susquehanna Valley 0
CONKLIN – Norwich rolled its best match of the season eclipsing the 3,000-pin mark in a shutout of Sus Valley Thursday.
Dustin Jenkins had a season-best 722 series for Norwich, who racked up 3,065 total pins. Pas D’Abbraccio added a 627 and Ben Barnes a 602. Jenkins rolled a season-high 264 in the second game, and had just one open frame during the match.

Kaitlin Korver had five kills and three aces for S-E.

Malorey Muzzy piled up seven kills and five aces for Oxford in the loss.
