NORWICH – Norwich did little wrong on the offensive end in the first half, and withstood Binghamton’s rally in the fourth quarter to win for the fourth time in six games.
Norwich (6-7) crept to within one win of evening its mark, and the good times rolled through two quarters with the Tornado staked to a 44-27 lead. “The first half was probably the best we’ve played all season,” said Norwich coach Krista Porter.
Hannah Runyon scored 13 of her 14 points in the opening two quarters, and Sarah Bonnell came off the bench to net nine of her season-high 15 points. Norwich used a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter to widen its lead to 17 points.
“We shot the ball well in the first half and we only turned it over five times,” Porter said.
Binghamton forced six Norwich turnovers in the third quarter alone. Jennifer Morabito netted 13 points in the stanza as the 17-point margin dwindled to as little as seven. Only eight points from NHS junior Elisha Eddy stemmed the tide.

Adirondack 38, S-E 25
SHERBURNE – In a showdown for the Center State Conference division title. Adirondack won nearly all of the close matches to earn a decision over the Marauders Wednesday night.
The Wildcats grabbed big wins at 112, 135, 152, and 160 pounds to topple the Marauders. Brian Harrer’s pin at 135 pounds of Daniel Hicks was especially stunning. Hicks had not been pinned all season, and was leading 2-0 late in the second period when Harrer finished the match.
Daryn Delee gave S-E some early momentum with a 5-1 decision win over Tim Stammers. It was the first of three straight wins for the Marauders to get them back in the match. “That was a surprise for us,” said S-E assistant coach Brian Hicks of Delee’s win. “He hasn’t wrestled for four years, and he beat a real good kid.”
The Marauders are at Holland Patent tonight.
