Norwich’s Jenkins just misses 300 game

CHENANGO BRIDGE – Norwich’s Dustin Jenkins just missed out on a 300 game for the second straight match, but finished with a 718 series to lead the Tornado to a shutout at CV Friday afternoon.

Jenkins, who rolled 11 straight strikes on Thursday, had 10 straight strikes to open his first game of the night. He crossed over for an eight-pin count in the 11th frame, and finished with a 288.

“All in all, it was a great day, and we managed to hang on even with a low (scoring) third game,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey.

Kevin Rooney added a 604 triple for the Tornado. Norwich hosts Maine-Endwell Tuesday.

EARLVILLE – Don Philhower led Sherburne-Earlville for the second straight match finishing with a 640 series at Hi-Skor Lanes Friday afternoon.

The Marauders improved to 12-0 with the win.

Volleyball


B-G 3, Afton 1

BAINBRIDGE – B-G won for the sixth time in seven matches defeating Afton for the second time in as many days on Friday, 25-16, 21-25, 25-10, 26-24.

Alli Roosa charted B-G’s biggest statistical day with eight aces, nine assists, 11 kills, three blocks and three digs.

Michelle Baisley finished with nine kills, nine digs, and seven aces for Afton.
