Chamber names first Employee of the Month
NORWICH – Christine Howard, Assistant Branch Manager, GHS Federal Credit Union, was recently selected as the recipient of Commerce Chenango’s Employee of the Month Award.
“We’re honored that Crissy was chosen as the very first Chamber Employee of the Month,” said GHS Branch Manager Hillary Wilcox, who nominated Howard for the award.
“Crissy is a very valuable person in our organization,” said Wilcox, noting that Howard had been with the credit union longer than any other employee. “The customers know her, put their trust in her, and know that she is always willing to help them with all of their financial needs. She was critical in the transition when long-time employee Ruth Stafford retired and I assumed the position.”
According to Wilcox, Howard has been with GHS for a total of nine years. She began her employment as a teller and was then promoted to an officer in the loan department. In June 2008, she was promoted to assistant branch manager.
Howard was born and raised in Oxford, where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters. She holds an Associates degree in business administration and is presently taking classes for her Bachelors degree.
As Commerce Chenango’s Employee of the Month, Howard received $100 cash, made possible through the sponsorship of Mang Insurance Agency, a $50.00 gas card from Mirabito Energy Group and a gift certificate to Nina’s Pizzeria.
The Employee of the Month Award was established to enable member businesses and organizations to nominate their outstanding employees for recognition by the Chamber. Members of the business organizationwho would like more information on this new program, or would like to nominate one of their employees, are encouraged to call Membership Coordinator Rachel Crandall at 334-1402.
