NORWICH – Norwich’s comeback effort in the fourth quarter was turned aside by Windsor and its stellar foul shooting.

Anne Buchert was 6-for-6 from behind the stripe in the fourth quarter, and the Black Knights made 10-for-12 over the final stanza.

Norwich trailed by 13 entering the fourth quarter, but twice sliced the lead to seven points, the last time coming on Tatyana Ithier’s layup with 47.8 seconds left to make it 47-40.

“We wanted to pressure the ball in the fourth quarter, and we weren’t worried about fouls,” said Norwich coach Krista Porter. “We did a good job in the last three minutes, but I guess we started too late.”

Windsor hurt Norwich on the offensive boards, while also forcing 17 turnovers. Buchert, Windsor’s leading scorer, had 19 points in the game – eight from the foul line. “We keyed on (Buchert) the whole game,” Porter said. “When you take a chance like that, sometimes you leave people open.”

Becca Griswold had three putback baskets after missed shots and finishe dwith 10 points for Windsor.

Elisha Eddy had nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists for Norwich (9-11). Adrienne Sharpe added nine points, and Hannah Runyon finished with eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.
