SMYRNA – After a year full of events in honor of the Town of Smyrna’s 200th anniversary, Bicentennial Committee members are discussing the idea of forming a historical society and perhaps continuing some of the year’s most popular events.

On Jan. 29, the Smyrna Bicentennial Committee held a meeting to take care of any unfinished business. “At that time, committee members discussed transforming the group into an active historical society,” said committee member Barbara Schwarting.

Last year marked the 200th anniversary of the Town of Smyrna, and to celebrate, the Bicentennial Committee held a different event every month to celebrate all year long. Schwarting explained that feedback from the bicentennial events has been overwhelmingly positive.
