New Berlin Art Forum presents night of Irish music
NEW BERLIN – The New Berlin Art Forum is revving up for the big Irish Party this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Unadilla Valley Central School. People are coming from far and wide and closer still to enjoy the music and dancing, food, games and prizes. Wearing of the green is encouraged but not mandatory! The evening will feature Glenravel (formerly Sons of Ireland) and The Claddagh Ring Irish Dancers.
The Glenravel band, named after the hometown of Mike’s Carnrike’s grandmother Bridget (Carey) McNeil in Antrim County, Northern Ireland, includes members Dan Collins, vocals and guitar; Patti Carnrike, vocals; Mike O’Connor, keyboards; and Mike Carnrike, himself, lead vocals. Together they sing Irish songs, stories and ballads. Their song list includes tunes from The Irish Rovers, Barleycorn, The Clancy Brothers, Tommy Maken, The Wolfetones and others, as well as originals written by Dan and Mike.
The Claddagh Ring Dancers were honored to be the warm-up act for concerts at the Chenango County Council of Arts – Cherish the Ladies & The Three Irish Tenors. They perform in a variety of venues in the Southern Tier of New York and Northern Pennsylvania with the band West O’Clare.
Tickets are available for $10 each at the New Berlin Service Pharmacy, Chenango County Council of the Arts in Norwich, or at the door the evening of the performance. For information call 847-9747. You can also visit the Art Forum’s website at www.newberlinartforum.org.
This event is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Chenango County Council of the Arts.
