Woman ordered to get treatment in prison after entering guilty plea

NORWICH – A woman pleaded guilty to cocaine possession in Chenango County Supreme Court and was sentenced to three years in state prison last week.

Heather Angelino, 37, County Road 46 of Norwich, pleaded guilty to fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for having an ounce and a half of cocaine in small plastic bags on Division Street in the City of Norwich.

Supreme Court Justice Kevin M. Dowd sentenced Angelino to three years in state prison and one year of post release supervision over the class D felony.

Dowd also ordered that Angelino attend the Willard Drug Treatment Center in Rochester while serving out her sentance.

“This defendant has a drug problem, your honor, and hopefully the programs made available to her during her incarceration and the length of her incarceration will act as a deterrent for her when she gets out. You’re not going anywhere Judge. I’m not going anywhere and hopefully, we won’t see her in here again,” said District Attorney Joseph A. McBride.
