Irish community celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

NORWICH – At noon on Tuesday, the local Irish community will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by raising the Irish flag in the park in downtown Norwich.
City of Norwich Supervisor James McNeil said the event has been spearheaded by Chenango County Court Judge W. Howard Sullivan for the past 10 years.
Following the flag raising, there will be a brief ceremony. Father Douglas Cunningham will be on hand to say a blessing, and Sullivan will say a few words.
“We’ve done this in good weather and bad, rain or shine for the Irish Community in Chenango County,” McNeil said.
