Frontier, LoPresti to receive awards at Chamber dinner

NORWICH – Commerce Chenango has announced the 2009 award recipients that will be presented at the 50th Annual Dinner on Thursday at Baron’s Inn in Greene. Frontier Communications will receive the Distinguished Business of the Year Award and Pegi LoPresti will be the recipient of the 2009 Commitment to Community award.
Serving the telecommunications industry, Frontier continually sets new standards for performance, technology and support. By anticipating their customers’ needs and investing in research and development, Frontier is able to stay ahead of the market and deliver value-added products for both consumers and businesses.
Frontier has been a stable business for over 50 years in the Chenango County area, and has continued to grow their employee base as well as their product services. “They stand out from their competition by providing quality customer service, a standard of excellence and by their commitment to the communities they serve,” said Commerce Chenango CEO Maureen Carpenter. More than 1,425 volunteer hours were committed by Frontier employees in 2008.
The Commitment to Community award is given annually to an individual who has shown significant commitment to their community through their leadership as well as individual contributions. “Commerce Chenango’s recipient, Pegi LoPresti, is the epitome of a great leader and helps to guide decision-makers and organizations in a quiet and unassuming way,” Carpenter said. “She is innovative, hard-working, enthusiastic, committed to any task she undertakes and is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Chenango County for everyone.”
LoPresti has assisted or led the following organizations on a volunteer basis: the Chenango United Way, Dollars for Scholars, Odyssey of the Mind, Norwich Pumpkin Festival, Friends of the Park, Chenango County Tourism, the Chenango Foundation Board, and the Norwich YMCA, just to name a few. She received the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award in 2004 and was the PTA’s Founder’s Day recipient in 2001.
The dinner, sponsored by NBT Bank, will commence at 5:30 with a cash bar and appetizers, the dinner and awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 6:30. Cost for the dinner is $65.
