S-E stages 'Our Town' this weekend

SHERBURNE – Don’t miss the Sherburne Earlville High School drama club production of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town.” This weekend, the group will be performing the classic three-act play set in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire between the years of 1901 and 1913.

The story depicts the everyday lives of the people in Grover’s Corners, in the early 20th century. Act I is called Daily Life, Act II is Love and Marriage and Act II is called Death and Eternity. The style of the play focuses on the characters by stripping away normal conventions of theatre, such as sets and props. The actors, working with little or no props, pantomime most of the action allowing the characters to shine through.

Director Colleen Law-Tefft added a Sound FX crew of students who will be creating the ambiance of the play by use of sound effects. They will be in full view of the audience, in the orchestra pit, rather like an old time radio show.
