Norwich 14, Whitney Point 0
NORWICH – Senior Timmy Clark threw the first no-hitter for Norwich dating back at least 25 years as the Tornado won it second game of the season in a rout of visiting Whitney Point Monday.
Clark started 17 Golden Eagles batters with strikes finishing with 15 strikeouts, three walks, while using just 87 pitches in his preeminent varsity effort.
“He was getting out in front of hitters and his curveball was dropping in beautifully,” said Norwich coach John Martinson of Clark, who also credited catcher Thomas Kalicicki. “The kids played relaxed and error-free baseball. It was nice to see the pitching and defense go hand-in-hand today.”
Clark went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple with three RBI and four RBI to bolster a standout day. Christian Hotaling, who missed the last four games with an injury, had two hits and four RBI from the designated hitter’s slot.
Norwich (2-7) hosts Windsor Wednesday.

Brown allowed four hits in a complete-game victory striking out 12 Canastota batters.
The Marauders were buoyed by the bottom half of their lineup, who accounted for all of the game’s offense. Joe Moses went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Todd Gibbs had a two-run single, and Mike McCredy, Phil Price, and Dereck Ferris all had runs scored. As a team, the Marauders also stole six bases.
“When the top of the lineup struggles, the bottom has to pick up the slack,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “They were able to do that today.”

Greene 8, Unadilla Valley 1
NEW BERLIN – Greene scored four runs in the first inning as UV made three of its eight errors, and Greene pitcher Rebecca Hanrahan held the Storm to just one hit Monday.
Hanrahan fanned 15 in the game, and added a solo home run in the fifth. “Hanrahan has it all: She throws hard and has a lot of off-speed stuff to keep hitters off balance,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “Once you get in a hole (against Greene), they are tough to come back on.”
UV won its third game of the season two days earlier in the S-E Tournament consolation game. Sophomore Amanda Geier and Breanne White combined on a no-hitter in a 12-2 win over Clinton.
White came on to pitch the last two innings, while Geier had six strikeouts and four walks for her first varsity win. Eighth-grader Jordan Anderson had an RBI triple in the fifth.
“Amanda threw really well right from the start,” Backus said.
