Joint Broome, Chenango investigation leads to meth bust
GREENE – In a joint effort, the Chenango and Broome County Sheriff’s Offices executed a no-knock search warrant of a Greene man’s home for suspicion of producing and trafficking methamphetamine.
Police arrested 42-year-old James Kehl and 39-year-old Terri Sessions, both of 660 Cummings Rd., Greene. The search warrant was executed at 6:30 p.m. on April 24 at Kehl’s residence.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the Broome County Special Investigations Unit arrested the two defendants following an ongoing investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in Broome County.
“The Broome County Sheriff suspected he (Kehl) was selling methamphetamine in Broome County. They took a closer look at him found out where he lived and contacted us to aid in the arrest and investigation,” said Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Richard M. Cobb.
Kehl was charged with third degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in Broome County. Deputies discovered more than 5 grams of the methamphetamine on Kehl, with a street value of around $600, and claimed he was distributing the drug.
He was also charged with third and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance along with two counts of second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia in Chenango County. Police recovered digital scales and pipes from the Greene residence.
“It appears to us he (Kehl) was involved in cooking meth. We’re just not sure where and the defendant has refused to divulge the information,” said Cobb.
Sessions was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully growing marijuana.
Kehl was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility and Sessions was released on an appearance ticket. Session will reappear in the Town of Greene Court at a later date.
