Colorscape has scholarships for emerging artists
NORWICH – Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival is pleased to provide for the second time, through Francis K. Wilcox Scholarship Awards for Emerging Young Artists, an opportunity for high school art students to experience the professional art world at this year’s 15th Annual Colorscape on Sept. 12 and 13 in downtown Norwich and to receive cash awards to further their artistic endeavors.
Eligibility has been extended to include both junior and graduating seniors (2009-2010 academic year) who live or attend school within Chenango County who are interested in pursuing artistic careers. This includes private schools and home-schooled students. The application deadline is May 15.
The 2009 Francis K. Wilcox Scholarship Awards of $350 per Emerging Young Artist exhibitor (maximum three per year) will be presented at the complimentary Awards Breakfast on the Sunday morning of Colorscape. Also, $100 gift certificates good for Golden Artist Colors products will be awarded to each Emerging Young Artist exhibitor. Recipients will have the opportunity display and sell their work in a booth provided by Colorscape and participate fully with other exhibitors, giving them the experience of taking part in a juried art festival with professional artists. Selected student artists will be required to be present during the entire event in person.
