Oxford vote to see write-ins

OXFORD – The Oxford Academy Central School District will hold the budget vote and board election on Tuesday, May 19, from 1 to 9 p.m. in the high school media center.  There are two Board of Education member vacancies, and only one person, Peter J.  Heggie Jr., has returned a petition to run for office.  This means that a write-in process will be necessary this year.

Using the voting machines for the write-in process would be awkward and uncomfortable for many voters; consequently, the school district will use a paper ballot for the vote. The budget vote and the board vacancy election will both appear on one sheet of paper. Instructions for selecting the board candidates will be on the paper ballot and posted at the polling place. Poll workers will be able to answer questions on the day of the vote.
