Norwich budget hearing tonight

NORWICH – Residents of the Norwich City School District will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed budget for the 2009-10 academic year at a budget hearing at 7 tonight in the Norwich High School Auditorium.

The budget proposal, which totals $37,873,070, represents a .86 percent increase in spending over the current year’s budget. The estimated impact on the tax levy is an increase of 2.72 percent.

The tentative budget, approved by the district’s school board on April 30, will go to vote on May 19. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on that day.
