Seiler qualifies for second round of medalist tournament

ITHACA – Oxford junior Cory Seiler, on his third attempt, advanced to the second round of the Section IV medalist tournament Thursday at Cornell University Golf Course.
Seiler, a junior, missed the cutline as a freshman and sophomore, but is situated just five shots off the low score after shooting an 84. In a bunched field, Seiler is 15th out of 22 qualifiers.
Golfers return to Cornell University on Saturday for the second round with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. The low nine aggregrate scores after second-round play earn a spot on the Section IV team at the state championships May 31-June 1 at Cornell.

Stockbridge Valley 14, Otselic Valley 5
MUNNSVILLE – Stockbridge Valley scored 10 runs in the third inning to take control of Thursday’s game against Otselic Valley.
Tanner Bluewolf pitched a complete game for the Indians and had three RBI including a home run.
During the big third inning, SV benefited from two errors, then backed that up with nine of its 12 hits in the game to take an 11-3 lead.
David Cerasani had three hits for OV including a solo home run. The Vikings play at Cincinnatus today.
