New exhibit at Gilbertsville gallery

GILBERTSVILLE – The Hilton Bloom Art Studio is holding an exhibition this summer called “Collection of the Artists.” The exhibit will open with a reception on Friday, May 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend this party and meet participating artists.

This exhibit is an opportunity to see an art collection amassed by visual artists, and this collection has been several generations in the making. A majority of the work was collected by the late J. Louise W. Higgins. A wide range of styles and media will be represented: paintings in watercolor and oil will cover a variety of styles and subjects. Other media represented will include collage, ceramics, drawings in charcoal, pencil, and pastels; mixed media; prints, etchings, and assemblage.

The collection features regional and international artists of the past and present, including Najm Aswad, Mary Lou Booth, Jane Carr, Grace Cook, Joseph Del Giacco, George Earle, Walter Gurbo, Ruth Harasta, Steve Hartman, Evelyn Henrard, Irwin Hollander, Bernard Kassoy, Joseph Kurhajec, Rich La Tourette, Dan G. Meyer, Elizabeth Nields, Mary Ann Stow, Rudolf Voit, Warren Whipple, J. Wolf, Franz Zipperer.
