Greene PD gets new vehicle

GREENE – The Village of Greene Police Department recently purchased a new 2009 Dodge Durango to replace a five-year old vehicle with 89,000 miles which the village plans to sell by public bid.

According to Greene Police Chief Steve Dutcher, the new vehicle was purchased through state bid for $22,000. An additional $1,200 was spent to transfer the onboard computer, kennel and other equipment from the old Durango and for a new spot light to be installed and lettering to be done by National Sign and Awning of Oxford.

The money to purchase the new Durango came out of the department’s vehicle replacement reserve, Dutcher said. This account is paid into on an annual basis to allow police vehicles to be replaced every five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
