Drumatic Cymbalism to play Oxford Vets’ Home Saturday

OXFORD – The drum and rhythm have been the foundation for all societies and cultures throughout the world. It was the first ... the first beat in all civilizations.

To illustrate and perpetuate the drum’s significance to local audiences, percussionists Mike Burgevin, Sadiq Abdushahid, and Alex Craver are donating a performance for the residents of the NYS Veterans’ Home in Oxford beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.

Families and friends of residents who reside at the veteran’s home are invited and welcome to attend. The performance will be two, 45-minute sets with a brief intermission in between.

Burgevin and Sadiq are originally from New York City and played professionally there for many years as well as toured with many famous names in jazz music from Dixieland jazz to Bebop. Alex Craver is currently attending Binghamton University and is a member of the African Drumming Ensemble there. The trio formed drumatiCymbalism in 2003.
