Veterans honored at Chenango County Fair

NORWICH – Each of the 62 motorcycle riders who led the Tuesday night Fireman’s parade displayed American flags in tribute to our nation’s veterans. It will be but one of the ways in which those who have sacrificed for our country’s freedom will be honored at the Chenango County Fair this week.

According to Mary Weidman, president of the Chenango County Agricultural Society, an entire day at the fair, Friday, will be dedicated to veterans.

Much of what will be offered will center around the American Legion tent, which will be manned throughout the week by representatives from various Legion posts throughout Chenango County.

According to Chenango County American Legion Commander Hank Burnor, representatives from state and federal agencies will be on hand Thursday, Friday and Saturday to answer questions and assist veterans in securing additional benefits.
