Foulds still making big plays
EXETER, N.H. – The Tri-City Charge are now printing their game tickets with the image of one spectacular play that led to a thrilling New England Football League victory earlier this month.
That picture is of Unadilla Valley graduate Josh Foulds, a three-year starter for the Storm football team, and Chenango County’s all-time leading rusher with over 3,500 career yards.
Foulds, who works a full-time job during the day and actually pays his own way to play football on the weekend, is in his third year playing semi-pro football for the Tri-City Charge, a Division 2A club in the 45-team NEFL.
An impact player in high school with a nose for the ball – and the endzone – Foulds was positioned perfectly to make the play of the game in his team’s 13-6 win over the Southern New England Rage.
Playing defensive back, Foulds read the quarterback’s eyes as he dropped into pass coverage. He stepped in front of the opponent’s pass, and took off down the sideline toward the goal line. Foulds evaded one tackler, and dove into the endzone – the frozen image now emblazoned on game tickets – with a Rage tackler holding on to his ankles. The score came with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter, and it snapped a 6-6 tie game.
