Couple’s felony case dismissed

GREENE – On Aug. 12, 2008, the Greene Police Department announced it had arrested Heidi Cronin, 33, and Joseph Cronin, 32, both of 12 Park Street Extension in the village, and charged them with nine felony counts of second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Investigators alleged the couple had forged a victim’s signature on stolen checks in order to steal nearly $3,000 from a local bank. After being held for nearly two months at the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, all charges against the Cronins were dropped by the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office.
District Attorney Joseph A. Mc Bride said the case was dismissed because “the complainant in the case no longer desired to cooperate with investigators.” McBride also said the victim in the case had personal reasons for withdrawing his support and that the matter was sealed from the public.
