Morris hosts Summermusic ‘09 concerts this weekend

GILBERTSVILLE – You are cordially invited to attend Summermusic ‘09 featuring The Millennium Strings in the 17th Festival of Classical Music presented by Magic Mountain Music Farm of Morris in its Seventeenth Anniversary Collaboration with the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville at the First Presbyterian Church, Rte. 51.
Concerts will be Friday, September 4th and Saturday, September 5th at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
Participants will be Barbara Fitzgerald, Double Bass; Anton Machleder, Guitar; Sigrid Gullickson, Violin; Jeri Jorgensen, Violin; Kerri McGonigle, Cello; Jessica Meyer, Violinist; David Moulton, Cello; James Rosamilia, Cello; Shauna Smith, Violin; Marvin Suson, Violin; Shelly Tramposh, Viola and Cullan Bryant, Piano.
The Millennium Strings will be joined for the seventh consecutive summer by the extraordinary pianist, Cullan Bryant as guest artist. Cullan Bryant is among the most active chamber and collaborative pianists in New York City, maintaining a schedule of over 50 recitals a year. He has performed with such artists as Emanuel Borok, David Gerber, Oleg Krysa, Midori, Sviatoslav Moroz, Peter Rejto, and Peter Winograd. He has also appeared in recitals with members of the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York City Ballet Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Boston Sympony and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in such venues as Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Detroit’s Orchestra Hall. Mr. Bryant made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1992 in recital with violinist Patmore Lewis.
Mr. Bryant has performed throughout Michigan, California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New York, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Festival appearances have included the Serenates de Platia d’Aro and the Porta Ferrada festivals in Spain, the Chateau de la Napoule in France, Lake Winnepesaukee Music Festival in New Hampshire, Palm Beach Invitational Series in Florida and the Shandelee Piano Festival in New York among many others. Mr. Bryant has been on the faculty of the Academy of Music Summer Festival in New Jersey since 1999.
Cullan began playing the piano at age two, giving his first public recital at age six. At eleven he toured campuses in his native Arkansas and in Texas including several televised recitals. His prizes and awards include the Leschetizky International Competition, the National Arts Club of New York, the Memphis Beethoven Competition, Miami Arts Competition and a certificate of outstanding citizenship from Arkansas Governor Frank White. His college studies were with Robert Oldsand and Arthur Balsam at the Manhattan School of Music. In July 2002 he toured Japan in recitals with violinist Midori.
Summertime ‘09 is the culmination of two weeks of intensive preparation at Magic Mountain Music Farm in Morris, New York. In the creative haven of The Farm, The Millennium Strings practice in an idylic, distraction free environment deepening their relation to their art and exploring new techniques for tapping their creative energies. Magic Mountain Music Farm, developed by Burton Kaplan, Professor of Violin at The Manhattan School of Music and New York University, is now celebrating its Twenty-fourth Anniversary Season. This is the Seventeenth Anniversary of the collabortion of The First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville and Magic Mountain Music Farm to produce public concerts. The Summermusic ‘09 Festival is a Decentralization Program which is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. In Otsego County the Decentralization Program is administered by the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts. This event is also made possible with funds from voluntary offerings by the audience each night.
