DOT shuts down lanes on Rt. 12 for three weeks worth of maintenance

NORWICH – Motorists traveling along State Highway 12 will encounter delays and single-lane traffic for about a quarter-mile stretch in and around the City of Norwich’s south end as the New York State Department of Transportation conducts repairs over the next three weeks.

DOT Traffic Operations Center Manager Bill Seaman reported that crews would begin work from Prentice Street in the city to the Burger King parking lot along the commercial area of the state highway in the Town of Norwich.

Seaman said crews had filed for authorizations allowing them to close one lane of traffic.

“They are milling and paving, alternating lane closures both south and north bound are expected,” said Seaman.
