Duddy receives statewide honor
NORWICH – Charlene Duddy, Environmental Services Supervisor at United Methodist Homes’ Doris L. Patrick Campus in Norwich, was presented with the 2009 Long-Term Care Employee of Distinction Award by the New York State Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA). Carl Young, NYAHSA President, bestowed the honor during a ceremony at the campus on Sept. 2.
Duddy, who has been with United Methodist Homes for 17 years, was nominated for the award by Doris L. Patrick Campus Continuous Quality Improvement Coordinator Kate Conant. Duddy was selected to receive the award because of her long-term commitment to residents, colleagues and the organization. She is described as an exemplary team player, always ready to assist wherever help is needed. Testimonials from residents show she’s loved and respected, and her coworkers hold her in the highest esteem.
Said Young, “It’s an honor to present this award to Charlene. Every day, she gives 100 percent to United Methodist’s residents, making the extra effort to get to know them on an individual basis. The residents can feel that her loving concern for them is genuine, because everything Charlene does improves their quality of life.”
The NYAHSA Long-Term Care Employee of Distinction Awards program was instituted in 2001 to recognize the extraordinary efforts of front-line long-term care employees such as nursing staff, aides, and dietary and housekeeping workers. Staff in any of New York’s not-for-profit, mission-driven and public nursing homes, senior housing, adult care facilities, and other long-term care providers are eligible for the honor, and are nominated by managers or supervisors. Nominations were reviewed by staff from the New York State Nurses Association, the Home Care Association of New York State and other organizations.
In addition to formal recognition at ceremonies throughout the state, this year’s 18 honorees also each received a $100 cash prize.
