Jeffrey easily wins GOP primary

NORWICH – One-term incumbent Robert M. Jeffrey defeated challenger Daniel J. Palmer by a wide margin in Tuesday’s Republican primary, 94-15, for the city’s 6th Ward.

“I’d like to thank the Republicans in the City of Norwich’s 6th Ward for taking time out of their busy day,” Jeffrey, a resident of 17 York St., said this morning. “I appreciate their support and am honored to be the Republican candidate.”

Of a possible 325 voters in the ward, 109 turned out.

Palmer, who also petitioned as an Independent, says he plans to run again in November’s general election.

“I do plan to run again,” he said. “I’m going to try to clear up some of the misconceptions.”
