Another big road win for Oxford

Oxford 4, Sidney 3 (OT)
SIDNEY – Oxford pulled off its second straight big road victory in a week’s time rallying for two goals down early in the second half to defeat the Warriors Saturday.
Kelli Whitehill scored twice for the Blackhawks, and had the game winner with 2:26 remaining in the second overtime period. Whitehill took a crossing pass from Kim Shackelton, and deposited her shot into the left corner of the goal.
Ginny Burdick and Kalah Parks had second-half goals for Oxford, who blanked previously-unbeaten Walton on the road earlier this past week.

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford won for the first time this season getting a big game from keeper Caiti Anderson, and goals from Alyssa Falciani and Lauren Porter.
Anderson made 12 saves, 10 of those off the feet of Greene senior Liz Wentlent. Wentlent had Greene’s lone tally scoring on a penalty kick in the second half.
“Anderson was outstanding in goal for us,” said B-G coach George Williams. “It was a good game for Caiti and the team, and nice to get our first win.”

G-MU 3, Franklin 0
COPES CORNERS – G-MU won back-to-back games for the first time in at least three years, and won for the third time this season picking up the offense in the second half.
Just like its win over Laurens earlier in the week, the Raiders scored three times over the second 40 minutes.
Franklin dominated the shots, especially in the first half, but came up empty against G-MU keeper Logan Eltz.
Calli Hill scored 3:02 into the second half, and Kirsten Gonzalez tacked on two insurance goals in the final 16 minutes.
Eltz had a season-best 23 saves.
The Raiders host Worcester on Tuesday.

Girls’ Tennis

Maine-Endwell 4, Norwich 3
NORWICH – At first doubles, Maine-Endwell’s team of Domenica Hudy and Allison Unger survived one match point, and rallied to win a tiebreaker over Norwich’s Emily Stewart and Katie Orioli on Friday evening.
That one matchup swung the balance of a tightly contested matchup between STAC division rivals.
Norwich controlled the singles play taking three of four points. Bryn Loomis, Sophie Stewart, and Jessica Lerner grabbed victories for the Tornado, Loomis ousting her number one singles opponent in three sets.

Girls’ Swimming

Greene 104, Cooperstown 50
GREENE – Greene improved to 2-0 in Midstate Athletic Conference action winning 11 of 12 events in a blowout win over Cooperstown Friday.
The Trojans swept the top hree spots in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke to grab a commanding advantage over the Redskins.
Jessica Treadwell, Jessica Brooks, Katie Crowe, Emily Bertram, and Leah Kazalski were not only winners in individual events, but added legs to the Trojans’ relays. “We came out a little flat in the beginning, but the girls were able to amp it up and put together some good swims tonight,” said Greene coach Mike Platta.
The Trojans face Afton-B-G on Tuesday.

S-E 91, Afton-B-G 62
AFTON – Sherburne-Earlville’s improved swimming program was on display Friday night in a MAC league victory at Afton-B-G.
The Marauders won eight of 11 events, and with a roster of about 20, held the advantage in depth points as well.
Defending Section III champion, Samantha Martin had a victory in the 100-yard freestyle for S-E, and Hannah Bellinger picked up two individual event wins for S-E winning the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.
Chelsea DeMott, Jeannie McCollum, and Payton Cutting split up the Makos’ three wins. “We had several personal best times in this meet,” said Afton-B-G coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “The swimmers are working real hard in practice to improve their times, and it will show through the season.”

Chittenango Invitational
JAMESVILLE – On the heels of a strong season-opener earlier in the week, Sherburne-Earlville’s boys all dropped times off their initial race, and placed 10th out of 14 teams at the Chittenango Invitational.
Noah Huff was 27th to lead S-E with a career-best 17:50, and Dan Palmatier placed 36th in 18:27.
Sopheia Eddy’s 21:32 in the girls’ race was good for 23rd overall out of 102 runners. Race results may be found online at www.tullyrunners.com.

WELLS BRIDGE – Greene won its sixth straight game to stay unbeaten, although it gave up a season-high three goals in the contest Friday at Unatego High School.
Five different Trojans scored including Corey Dietrich, Alex Driscoll, Mikki Brown, Ryan Ludwig, and Nate Patrick.
Derek Joyce had two goals for the Spartans.

DELHI – Nick Meehan had four of his team’s five goals as Delhi improved to 5-1 on the season with a shutout victory over Oxford Friday.

CINCINNATUS – Cincinnatus overwhelmed OV in handing the Vikings their first loss of the season.
The Red Lions jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead, and dominated the total shots on goal, 24-4.
“The pretty much controlled the whole game,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “They created a few too many shots for us to handle, and we weren’t able to put much together offensively either.”
The Vikings host Madison on Wednesday.

CONKLIN – Susquehanna Valley took just seven shots in the second half, and scored on six of them to rout the Tornado on Friday.
Josh Swanger and Michael Rood had two goals apiece for the Sabers. “Sus Valley is a very strong, well conditioned team,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey. “They were as equally accurate with their shots in the second half as they were equally off in the first half.”
Norwich’s Dyer Moore scored in the second half off a direct kick.
Norwich hosts Windsor Wednesday at 7 p.m.
