OT goal gives Sidney win over Greene

GREENE – Held in check most of the game, Sidney’s leading scorer, Dani Gravel got loose in the first overtime, and tallied the game’s only goal in Wednesday’s win at Greene.
Gravel scored at 8:31 after receiving a centering pass from mate Kristen Witten. “We had (Gravel) marked one-on-one, and we had her pretty well contained most of the game,” said Greene coach Brandy Stone. “We didn’t have many really good chances on offense, and their keeper happed to always be in the right place at the right time.”
Greene plays at Unatego Friday.

BAINBRIDGE – B-G won its second straight game making a first-half goal, and surviving UV’s offensive onslaught in the final minutes.
Chelsea Rosa sent a long pass from her defensive position into the penalty area, and Lauren Porter scored for the Bobcats (2-5, 2-7) at the 14:25 mark.
UV racked up 21 shots to hold a significant edge over B-G. Bobcats keeper Caiti Anderson finished with 16 saves to preserve the win. “They were all over us the final minutes,” said B-G coach George Williams. “I have to hand it to our kids, most of them played 80 minutes. Caiti also had another outstanding game. The last four or five minutes, she made some great saves.”
B-G plays at Oxford Friday.
