Hausrath inducted into National Wrestling Hall of Fame
EAST SYRACUSE – Former Sherburne-Earlville wrestling coach, Richard “Pete” Hausrath, was one of seven men inducted into the New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Double Tree Hotel in East Syracuse.
Hausrath’s participation in wrestling at Massapequa High School under the tutelage of Coach John Haas was to mark the beginning of more than five decades of dedication to wrestling as a competitor and a coach.
During his coaching career, Hausrath held varsity positions at Oelwein High School in Iowa, Sherburne-Earlville, and and Perham, Minnesota as well as several assistant coaching assignments. Additionally, he was a two-time National Freestyle/Greco Roman coach, and assisted Coach Jack Stanbro in developing a cultural exchange program and a Summer National Tournament. “Pete” has also had the honor of coaching several all-Americans.
