UV posts shutout win over NHS

Unadilla Valley 1, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Unadilla Valley broke the scoreless tie with 15 minutes left in regulation, and posted a non-league shutout victory on the Tornado’s field turf Monday night.

Katelynn Fagan made a crossing pass from the right corner to the far side of the goal, and Amanda Tumilowicz guided the ball inside the post for the winner.

“It was evenly matched and back and forth the whole game,” said Norwich coach Jeremy Bolton, whose club finishes the season 2-14 overall.

Norwich keeper Tatyana Ithier made three saves including a diving kick save late in the first half that kept the tie score intact.

UV keeper Kara Collins earned the shutout.

Oxford 10, B-G 0

BAINBRIDGE – Saturday, the Blackhawks received three of their goals from first-time goal scorers, and racked up a team-record 10 goals to even their MAC seasonal log.

Emily Smith had her first two goals of the season, and Alasa Maynard added her first varsity goal. Teresa Morrison, who had one goal coming into the game, added two goals as well.

“The first time we played (B-G), it went into overtime,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle. “We put a lot balls up there, and we were just finding the net.”

Kelli Whitehill added two goals for Oxford (6-6-1, 6-8-1), who can match a team record for wins in a season with a victory over Unadilla Valley later this week.
