Open house honors retiring Sherburne politicians

SHERBURNE – On Sunday, the public is invited to join in a tribute to four longtime government officials who are retiring their positions this year after serving a collective 131 years in office.
Chenango County Supervisor Harry W. Conley, R-Sherburne, Town Councilman Sherman Record, Town Justice Frank Faulkner and Town Clerk John McDaniel will be honored at an open house from 1 to 3:30 p.m. November 22 at Fox Run Event Center, Rt. 12B, Sherburne.
“The event is open for anybody who would like to come to congratulate them for their service to the community,” said Rochelle Harris, the town’s assessor. Harris said she and other town employees chipped in to personally sponsor the event.
“It’ll start all brand new,” said Clerk McDaniel, 88, about Sherburne’s government next year. With 55 years in office, McDaniel is the longest serving town clerk in the state of New York.
Councilman Record, 81, was first elected into office in 1978 and Justice Faulkner, 74, began his career in public service in 1986. Conley, 80, has served the town as supervisor for the past 20 years.
