While Santa Claus is usually the grand finale, he was upstaged this year by a fire on the float carrying the Chenango County Dairy Princess. A generator used to power the float’s lights heated up and got too close to the hay bales the riders were sitting on, setting off a short but spectacular blaze. No one was injured.
