ILION – After losing most of last year’s close games, the Marauders immediately reversed that pattern with an opening-night six-point victory on the road Monday.
Down by seven in the third quarter, returning players Sean Boise and Branden McDaniel fueled the comeback, and junior Ethan Johnson closed out the win making 3-for-4 from the foul line in the last 30 seconds.
S-E led by seven points after one quarter, but gave the advantage up after scoring just three points in the second quarter. “When you have as many sophomores as seniors (3) on your roster, these kinds of stretches will happen,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “As the year goes on, I expect the droughts to happen less.”
Boise finished with a game-high 17 points and McDaniel added 13. The Marauders host Baldwinsville Friday in the first round of their tip-off tournament.
