Firefighters Association host goodwill Christmas concert this weekend

NORWICH – The Norwich Firefighters Association donated $1,000 to kids in need of winter clothing Tuesday with money collected from their annual fundraiser, which will be held again this Saturday at the Chenango County Council of the Arts.

Local 1404 Association President Terry Kuhn and other firefighters traveled to Perry Browne Intermediate School in Norwich to hand over a $1,000 check to the school’s Principal Jennifer J. Post and Superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan yesterday.

The money was raised by the union through last year’s fundraiser, which they’ll do again at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Council of the Arts’ Martin W. Kappel Theater, 27 West Main St.

Performing will be a Trans-Siberian Orchestra tribute band, Twelve-Twenty Four. The seasonal group recreates the sounds of Christmas through electric guitars, dramatic vocals and an elaborate lights display.

“Twenty Four performs their songs within the context of a story, complete with an on stage narrator, angel, four-piece string section, choreographed dancing, and full-scale concert lighting and sound. The band creates an atmosphere that celebrates the magic of Christmas, reminds us of the reason for the season, and truly touches the hearts of the audience,” says the group’s webiste, www.twelvetwentyfour.net.
