OXFORD – Oxford’s two-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt Wednesday night against Sidney.
The Warriors forced 21 Oxford turnovers, and limited the Blackhawks to just 22 points through three quarters. “They put on some pretty good full-court pressure and in the halfcourt,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “We were just flat tonight.”
Aaron Wood’s 12 points led Sidney, and Dylan Umbra scored 10. The Warriors limited Oxford to 30 percent shooting from the field.
Cory Seiler scored 12 points for Oxford (2-4), who host Afton on Saturday.

SHERBURNE – Brad Niederlander scored six points in the last quarter for the Mustangs, who turned back the Marauders’ rally in the fourth quarter.
S-E trailed by eight entering the last stanza, and tied the game briefly at 42-42 behind five points apiece from Sean Boise and Ethan Johnson. Boise had a would-be tying layup nullified in the final minute due to a charging call.
“We turned it over more in this game than we have been doing,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “We weren’t getting as many shots off in the first three quarters.”
Boise scored 14, Johnson 12, and Paul Romanenko added 10 for S-E, who play at Waterville Friday.

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley won for the second time this season using a zone defense that limited the Crimson Knights to just 10 points in the first half.
“I’ve been a man-to-man guy, but we played strictly zone tonight, and we didn’t press at all,” said UV coach Matt Osborne. “We played the passing lanes well, and we forced them into a lot of turnovers.”
Justin Hofer had 15 points to pace the Storm, Mike Schowe had 10 points and 12 rebounds, Mitchell MacDuff tallied 10 points, and Ryan Harrington pulled down 11 rebounds.
“We’re trying to improve each night and each practice, and we played much better,” Osborne said. “We still had too many turnovers, but we shot it better and looked to get the ball inside.”
