“One Song” project released today
NORWICH – Where would you have to go to see your friends and neighbors from all over Chenango County singing “Amazing Grace”? The answer is: Youtube.
McDonough-based musician Tom Rasely has announced the completion of his grant project “One Song: Amazing Grace” that features 174 people from all over the county. Rasely received the Individual Artist grant earlier this year with a proposal that just as easily could have been called “Chenango’s Got Talent.” This grant was made possible through public funds from NYSCA (the New York State Council of the Arts), and administered through the Chenango County Council of the Arts in Norwich.
For this project, Rasely traveled from Sherburne to Coventry, and McDonough to New Berlin, collecting 16 video performances of individuals and groups performing the song “Amazing Grace,” all in the same key, but with a tremendous variety of arrangements. According to Rasely these performances were collected between March and November. The separate videos were then edited together to make one performance of the song, with each line being presented by a different performer.
