NORWICH – Norwich’s Cody Bradbury clinched the Purple Tornado’s dual meet win over Maine-Endwell Tuesday night with a pin of the Spartans’ Max Hardin in 3:03 in the 152-pound matchup.
Norwich led 31-22 at that point, and Bradbury fell behind early giving up a takedown. Early in the second, Bradbury worked a reversal, and turned Hardin for the stick. “That (win) was absolutely huge for Cody,” said Norwich coach Joe Downey. “Both teams are fairly young, and a couple of matches could have gone either way.”
Norwich sophomore Keegan Levesque (189) gave Norwich the early lead with an 18-second pin. Tristan Rifanburg (103), Frankie Garcia (112), Tanner Cummings (119), and Cameron Yaiser (125) strung wins together to establish a 28-6 advantage.
“Keegan did a nice job getting the momentum going,” Downey said. “I thought Tristan looked a lot better and was more aggressive on his feet. Frankie was Frankie.”
Later on, Cameron Turner (140) grinded out a hard-fought 6-3 win over the Spartans’ Greg Kleinsmith. Turner’s late takedown secured the win. NHS’s Morgan Crawford (160) won a back-and-forth battle over Darnell Woolfolk. Crawford trailed 9-8 entering the last period, and had to fight off his back in the second stanza to avoid the loss. Crawford turned the tables early in the third showing superior aggressiveness and conditioning to earn the late-match pinfall.
“It was nice for some of our guys to dig deep and pull out some gutsy wins,” Downey said.
Norwich hosts Windsor on Thursday and competes in the Ilion Tournament on Saturday.

GREENE – Coming off a top-five team finish at the U-E Duals last weekend, Greene posted a dual meet win over Elmira Tuesday.
The Trojans wrapped up the win getting pins at 171, 189, and 215 pounds from Tyler Beckwith, Kurt Shear, and Kyle Stanton respectively.
“We had a nice tournament over the weekend, and some kids were a little beat up and sore,” said Greene coach Tim Jenks. “We were able to rest some kids tonight.”
Jacob Shearer (119) and Nick Wilcox (125) gave Greene the 9-0 advantage capturing the first two matches of the night.
Greene competes in the Eastern States Classic on Friday and Saturday at Middletown.

BINGHAMTON – Seton Catholic Central surged at the end of the third quarter and into the early part of the fourth gaining control of Tuesday’s matchup with the Purple Tornado.
Norwich, idle for nearly three weeks, led the Saints until the latter stages of the third quarter. “They had a good run at the end of the third quarter, and we had three possessions at the start of the fourth quarter where we gave up easy shots, and turned it over,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “We were very sloppy with the ball at the beginning of the fourth quarter.”
SCC center, Chloe Jones, scored 22 points including 13 in the fourth quarter. Bennett said that Jones established low-post position, and was able to finish over her shorter defenders.
Hannah Runyon had 19 points to lead Norwich and Bryn Loomis added 10 markers. Norwich hosts Chenango Valley on Saturday afternoon. The junior varsity game begins at 1 p.m.

Liz Wentlent had all 17 of her points in the opening two quarters to give the Trojans a 34-10 lead. “I don’t think we could have come out much flatter,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “It was fast break after fast break for them. They’re quick and they all finish well.”

OXFORD – Oxford improved to 2-0 in division play scoring a season-high 66 points Tuesday night against Hancock.
Haley Witchella scored 19 points and had eight rebounds. Alyshia Crawford added 13, and Julie Heggie scored a season-best 12 points off the bench. Kayla Golden chipped in with nine markers off the bench.
“All-around we had really good ball movement and we shot 45 percent from the field,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We probably set a season-high for assists as well.”

Tied at 9-9 after one stanza, Chelsi Rosa scored seven in the second and Shania Vandermark six to bring the halftime lead to 27-12. Randi Conway added 10 more points in a dominant third quarter on her way to a game-high 16 points. Conway added seven assists. “In the first quarter, we weren’t quite in a offensive flow, but our defense did play well, and we did another good job on the boards,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “We did a nice job moving the ball in the second and third quarter.”

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville knocked off Center State Conference co-division leader Cooperstown on Tuesday, and pulled within a half-game of first place in the process.
A 16-7 third quarter in which six different Marauders scored allowed the host team to build a 14-point lead.
Cooperstown closed to within 53-51 with 26 seconds left in the game. The Marauders beat a full-court press with Sean Boise converting a layup, and Ethan Johnson sunk two free throws with seven seconds left.
“We just played outstanding defense in the third quarter,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard, who said his team challenged every shot Cooperstown took. “Cooperstown has an outstanding program, and if they’re not winning the league, they’re near the top. This is a very good win for us.”
Boise led S-E (3-2, 6-4)with 21 points, Johnson had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and sophomore Randy Briggs dished out eight assists.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville knocked off Center State Conference co-division leader Cooperstown on Tuesday, and pulled within a half-game of first place in the process.
A 16-7 third quarter in which six different Marauders scored allowed the host team to build a 14-point lead.
Cooperstown closed to within 53-51 with 26 seconds left in the game. The Marauders beat a full-court press with Sean Boise converting a layup, and Ethan Johnson sunk two free throws with seven seconds left.
“We just played outstanding defense in the third quarter,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard, who said his team challenged every shot Cooperstown took. “Cooperstown has an outstanding program, and if they’re not winning the league, they’re near the top. This is a very good win for us.”
Boise led S-E (3-2, 6-4)with 21 points, Johnson had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and sophomore Randy Briggs dished out eight assists.
