Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - Watching the Weather has never been a fun thing to do especially when you’re never exactly sure of what may happen. Now it’s about to become even more unpredictable. In this new animated adventure, Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) was just your everyday ordinary scientist who tried to invent things for mankind but couldn’t quite get his inventions to work the way they should. Until one day, Flint has a stoke of luck. He invents a machine that can change the weather and makes it rain any type of food you want. Now he just has to figure out how he did it. Others like Mayor Shelburne (Bruce Campbell) have other ideas for Flint’s machine and steals it. With the help of his friend Samantha (Anna Faris), can Flint find a way to stop the rain of food before it’s too late? Another great animated feature is “Shrek Forever After” coming back with Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz in theaters May 21, 2010.
The Final Destination - There is a great saying “It’s not the destination that’s written, only the journey.” This time around, the destination may not be someplace you want to end up. In the latest chapter in the Final Destination series, Nick O’Bannon (Bobby Campo) was just going to spend the day with his friends at the theme park until he has a vision of his friends having an accident. Nick is able to persuade his friends to leave the theme park, thinking that he has saved his friends. He’s about to learn the hard way that if you try to cheat death; death has a way of cheating right back. Is Nick’s journey coming to an end? “Final Destinations 1, 2, and 3” are all available in stores now on DVD. Another scary DVD just out on DVD stars Megan Fox (Transformers) in “Jennifer’s Body” where she plays a teenager possessed by an evil spirit. Are Jennifer’s friends going to be able to save her?

Chuck - One of the Toddster’s favorite shows is coming back as Season 2 comes to DVD. Meet Chuck (Zachary Levi). Chuck was just an everyday computer technician until an old buddy at the CIA sent him an e-mail with all the government’s secrets in it. Now Chuck becomes the target of both the CIA and NSA. In the Season 2 opener, Casey and Sarah have to go steal a vital part for the new intersect computer and they need Chuck to do it. Will they be able to do it and is Casey going to kill Chuck in the process? Season 1 is available with Season 3 premiering on NBC Sunday January 10 at 8 p.m.
Sherlock Holmes - Over the years, people have read stories about interesting characters and have seen numerous adventures reading about them. One such character is the World’s Greatest Detective Sherlock Holmes. In a new take on an old classic, Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) is on the trail of a serial killer named Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong). Helping Holmes in his fight for justice as always is Dr. Watson (Jude Law). Blackwood manages to hide his crimes with the aid of black magic or illusions. At the start, Holmes and Watson manage to capture Blackwood before he can eliminate his latest victim. Blackwood is sentenced to death and following this people are still being murdered with witnesses claiming that Blackwood has returned from the grave. Holmes former love, Irene Adler (Rachel Mcadams) has asked for Holmes’s help in finding a missing person. Holmes believes the cases might be linked. Has Holmes and Watson found a case they may not be able to solve?
The Toddster’s Take- Everyone loves a good mystery and this one was just fun to watch. Downey played his part beautifully and Law’s Watson proved that he was not just a partner to Holmes but an equal in his own way. The detective’s deductive skills were incredible and the story was masterfully written. There have been many interpretations of Holmes written in books and played quite well by Basil Rathbone and many Television shows dedicated to the English detective over the years. This version was terrific and we even hear a nod to Holmes’ arch enemy Professor Moriarty. Go catch it and the DVD will be great!
The Toddster has been pretty busy but some other new DVDs out there that deserve an honorable mention include “Paranormal Activity,” “A Perfect Getaway,” and “The Marine 2” just to name a few. More new ones on the way for next week. The Toddster is out of here.
