The concept arose from a need in the community for an inexpensive means of transportation for job seekers and employed people who may not drive, may not be able to afford an automobile; or otherwise have barriers to employment. Said Terri Bickford, program director for the Employment and Training programs at OFC, “We at OFC believe in the power of neighbor helping neighbor.” OFC will actively seek the donations of gently used bicycles. These bikes will be restored to a state of safe utility by the generosity of Adventure Bikes & Boards, and then returned at no cost to community members in need of transportation for employment purposes.

Opportunities for Chenango is a community action agency, serving the citizens of Chenango County. OFC is committed to helping families and individuals recognize their strengths, set realistic goals, make responsible choices, and become successful, self-sufficient members of the community. Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. is located at 44 West Main Street in the city of Norwich.
