Pair of wins for Valley Heights hoops

NORWICH – Valley Heights Christian Academy’s girls’ basketball team improved to 7-0 in ESCAL play beating North Spencer Christian Academy last weekend, 54-31.
VHCA led by just five points at halftime, but outscored NSCA 24-3 in the third period to pull away. Jessie Ray scored nine in the third, Tiffany Davis netted all five her points in the stanza, and Megan VanValkenburg collected both of her buckets to aid the Crusaders.
Sarah Miedema had 17 poinys to lead VHCA and Ray finished with 12 markers.
On the boys’ side, VHCA (6-1 overall) put a season-high 93 points on the board to win by a whopping 72 points, 93-21.
Every player on the Crusaders’ roster scored at least two points led by Kevin Stockwell’s 21-point game. Luke Halberg was next with 16, and Ryan Rose along with Justin Miller scored 10 apiece.
