Benefit to be held for family touched by tragedy

NORWICH – A benefit to help a former Norwich resident, whose wife of six years was killed unexpectedly in a Dec. 12 thruway accident, will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Blarneystone Pub.

Julie Stratton, of Amherst, whose car was stranded on the highway following an accident involving a deer, was struck and killed by a tractor trailer at approximately 11:20 a.m. in Pembroke.

Mike and Julie Stratton have two young boys, Sam and Ben, ages 3 and 1.

The benefit will feature live musical entertainment, a variety of home-cooked food, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Slated to perform are the Foreheads, former members of the Barstool Boogie Band, the Voodoo Mystics and the Suspicious Hats, who will be playing on and off throughout the event. Food will be provided by a number of friends and family.
