German family loses their garage to fire

GERMAN – A Town of German family living near the Chenango and Cortland county line found their home threatened Monday as flames engulfed their garage and singed nearby buildings.

No one was injured in the fire, but Julie Kelly-Feehan, her husband Robert Feehan and her three children, ages 9, 12 and 14 ,were home when the blaze began.

“I’m thankful I have my home, for my kids being safe and that Mother Nature cooperated. If the wind was kicking up like it usually does out here, there’s no doubt this could have spread and been a lot worse,” she said.
